Karen Kurt Teal teaches classes in scientific and technical writing at the University of Washington and North Seattle Community College. She has a doctorate in English from the University of Massachusetts, and she launched her technical writing and editing career at the UW Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. She has taught for over ten years for the UW Department of Technical Communication (Now Human Centered Design & Engineering). Her feature course was Writing the Scientific Paper. She is now also affiliated with the new Biomedical Regulatory Affairs Masters Program in the UW School of Pharmacy, where she develops and teaches writing courses, and with North Seattle Community College, where she teaches technical writing. She also does private editing for business and medical research faculty.
Dr. Teal is at work on a book on the Victorian author Anthony Trollope, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Victorian Interdisciplinary Studies Association of the Western United States.
